Woman falls on metro track at Masterda Surya Sen station, services disrupted

Kolkata’s metro network faced a tense situation on Wednesday morning after a woman fell on the tracks at Masterda Surya Sen metro station. The incident occurred around 8:20 am, during peak office hours, and resulted in a temporary suspension of services on the UP line.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was standing on the crowded platform when she suddenly fell on the tracks just as a metro train was entering the station from the Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Kavi Subhash route. It is not yet clear whether she jumped intentionally or fell by accident. Metro authorities and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are currently investigating the matter.

A wave of panic spread through the station as the train screeched to a halt. RPF personnel rushed to the scene and managed to pull the woman out from under the train. She was conscious but injured and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.

The incident caused major delays for commuters. Metro services on the UP line were suspended for nearly 30 minutes, affecting travel between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Kavi Subhash. Many passengers were forced to exit the station and continue their journey via buses and autos, adding to the morning rush hour chaos.
